On May 26, 2020, the day after George Floyd was murdered, a longtime friend reached out to me. She called to ask, “How are you doing? What is going on in the world right now?”
That phone call sparked a conversation on race and racism. Though we’d been friends for more than two decades (we originally met in the workplace), we’d spoken little about our racial identities and how they influence our lived experiences. When Margaret called me on May 26, 2020, that changed.
Our conversation grew into a LinkedIn blog series, which sparked our book, The Business of Race: How to Create and Sustain an Antiracist Workplace – and Why It’s Actually Good for Business.
